UNA PINTURA ACADÉMICA DE FERMÍN ALEGRE MONFERRER (TERUEL, 1947-1996). ESTUDIO TÉCNICO Y PROCESO DE LIMPIEZA

Abstract

[ES] Este Trabajo de Fin de Grado (TFG) toma como caso de estudio, una pintura académica perteneciente al Fondo de Arte de la Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). Antes de iniciarse su estudio, la obra figuraba como anónima en el inventario de la colección de academias de la UPV. La localización y análisis de la firma encontrada en el reverso del lienzo, así como las anotaciones en el bastidor realizadas por el restaurador Rafael Catalá Rosaleñ en 1975, pudieron atribuir definitivamente la autoría de la obra al pintor aragonés Fermín Alegre Monferrer (Teruel, 1947-1996).

Se realiza un estudio técnico de los materiales constitutivos que conforman la obra, tanto del soporte textil y bastidor, como de los estratos pictóricos. Por otra parte, se constata que su estado de conservación es bueno, especialmente en relación con su consistencia y estabilidad material y estructural. No obstante, lo más reseñable reside en las capas de suciedad superficial, barnices envejecidos y retoques que se superponen sobre la pintura original para infundirle un aspecto impropio que encubre los valores cromáticos reales.

Finalmente, se ha procedido a acometer un proceso de limpieza de la superficie pictórica para eliminar estos estratos espurios y recuperar la legibilidad y comprensión de la composición figurativa.

[EN] This Degree Final Project (TFG) takes an academic painting that belongs to the Art Collection of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) as its subject matter. Before a study was commenced on this work of art, it was considered anonymous in the inventory of the UPV's collection. The location and analysis of the signature found on the back of the canvas, as well as the annotations on the stretcher made by the restorer Rafael Catalá Rosaleñ in 1975, were able to conclusively attribute the work to the Aragonese painter Fermín Alegre Monferrer (Teruel, 1947-1996).

A technical study was made of the constituent materials that make up the work, that is the textile support and stretcher, as well as the layers of paint. It was also found to be in a good state of conservation, especially as pertains its consistency, as well as its material and structural stability. However, the most notable features are the layers of dirt on the surface, aged varnish and retouching that are superimposed on the original painting to give it an inappropriate appearance that conceals its real chromatic values.

The painting surface was cleaned to remove these spurious layers, so as to restore the legibility and understanding of the figurative composition.
