Bioarte, un estudio de la producción actual y de cómo abordar su conservación

Abstract

[ES] El presente trabajo final de máster se centra en el estudio de la actual producción de obras de Bioarte y de cómo afrontar su documentación, catalogación e inventariado. Pese a los numerosos estudios teóricos existentes en la actualidad que versan sobre la creación y producción de Bioarte, así como de sus condiciones éticas, la existencia de estudios que aborden la conservación y la restauración en este tipo de obras es menor. Algunos de estos estudios más importantes han sido efectuados por la "Getty Conservation Institute" (GCI), presentados durante la conferencia "Living Matter", la cual se realizó en Ciudad de México el año 2019. Esta convención contaba con la participación de varios expertos en el campo de la conservación, los cuales compartieron sus estudios y trabajos versados en la problemática existente en la conservación de obras de Bioarte. Y es que este tipo de arte se caracteriza por ser un arte relativamente nuevo, cuya producción se encuentra en continua transformación, y cuyas obras requieren de un método de conservación e inventariado que se adecue a sus necesidades. De este modo, el presente trabajo se ha centrado en la investigación de algunos de los artistas más relevantes en el campo de Bioarte y sus obras, los cuales emplean diversas metodologías para la creación de Bioarte. Y de este modo utilizar la información obtenida, observando que características predominan en este tipo de arte, para la elaboración de una serie de fichas registro. Estas fichas se encuentran basadas en las proporcionadas por DOCAM, las cuales han sido adaptadas a las necesidades que este tipo de obras poseen. Finalmente, contemplando la posibilidad que estas fichas puedan ser utilizadas por otros investigadores, se han compartido los enlaces web que almacenan dichas fichas, proporcionando así el material de trabajo realizado a todo aquel que desee emplearlo.

[EN] This Final Master's Project focuses on the study of the current production of Bioart works and how to deal with their documentation, cataloging and inventory. Despite the numerous theoretical studies that exist today that deal with the creation and production of Bioart, as well as its ethical conditions, the existence of studies that address conservation and restoration in this type of work is less. Some of these most important studies have been carried out by the "Getty Conservation Institute" (GCI), presented during the "Living Matter" conference, which was held in Mexico City in 2019. This convention had the participation of several experts in the field of conservation, who shared their studies and works versed in the existing problems in the conservation of Bioart works. And it is that this type of art is characterized by being a relatively new art, whose production is in continuous transformation, and whose works require conservation and inventory method that suits their needs. Thereby, the present work has focused on the investigation of some of the most relevant artists in the field of Bioart and their works, which use various methodologies for the creation of Bioart. And in this way use the information obtained, observing which characteristics predominate in this type of art, for the elaboration of a series of registration cards. These files are based on those provided by DOCAM, which have been adapted to the needs of this type of works. Finally, contemplating the possibility that these files can be used by other researchers, the web links that store these files have been shared, thus providing the work material carried out to anyone who wishes to use it.
