Archipiélago del Paraíso: Usos y exploración del paisaje en el Caribe

Abstract

[ES] Las islas del Caribe llevan el paisaje como estandarte. Estos elementos de belleza enajenante, sin embargo, enuncian, las huellas de una historia que poco tiene de placentera y desvelan como el mito del paraíso, también incluye su infierno. A través del estudio de las expresiones artísticas de la región, y el desarrollo de una producción artística propia, se señalan una serie de claves para ver de otro modo los procesos políticos, económicos y sociales que se dan en el Caribe, así como su relación con el imaginario del paraíso. La presente investigación pretende indagar sobre el mito del paraíso y sus usos en la representación del paisaje caribeño mediante la puesta en escena de hechos históricos y la elaboración de un archipiélago propio.

[EN] The Caribbean islands carry the landscape as a standard. These elements of alienating beauty, however, state the traces of a story that is not very pleasant and reveal how the myth of paradise also includes its hell. Through the study of the artistic expressions of the region, and the development of artistic production, a series of keys are pointed out to see in a different way the political, economic and social processes that take place in the Caribbean, as well as their relationship with the imaginary of paradise. This research aims to investigate the paradise myth and its uses in the representation of the Caribbean landscape through the staging of historical events and the development of its own archipelago.
