[EN] The development of this Final Degree Project consists of the design and the dimensioning of a
photovoltaic solar installation of an open pit mine that the company CAOBAR S.A. owns in
Poveda de la Sierra, Guadalajara. The Installation aims to be carried out on a dump formed by
the accumulation of raw material from the mountain of zero useful value for the work activity
carried out by the company.
Thus, a study of various alternatives will be necessary to ensure a certain aim in the final election
due to the availability of a limited area from which it is already based, as it is usual on the other
hand in the development of this type of projects. In addition, to get to know the energy needs
of the industry, as well as the potential use of the photovoltaic plant, the electricity consumption
will be studied in detail, paying particular attention to the energy consumed during the hours of
solar energy production of each month, period of time in which the photovoltaic installation is
really usable. It should be said already at this point that one of the biggest setbacks of this
installation was that the solar field was at a certain distance from the General Table of Protection
of the industry, so it was necessary to use not so conventional equipment to try to lower the
costs of project execution.
Once the most interesting option has been chosen from among those proposed (1.090 kWp), all
the variables involved in the distribution of the photovoltaic field will be calculated: maximum
and minimum number of panels in series, maximum number of strings in an inverter, peak and
nominal power of the plant, physical distribution of the solar panels…
Subsequently, it will be necessary to calculate the sections of the conductors necessary to
ensure the correct functioning of the installation, as well as the protections that certify the
protection, both of all the elements of the installation and of the people, before any possible
alteration.
Likewise, the economic cost that each of the proposed installations would entail will be
evaluated, paying special attention to the option finally chosen; in addition to commenting on
the cleaning system that will be implemented to prevent the dust caused by detonations and
the passage of large vehicles from accumulating excessively on each photovoltaic panel, which
would reduce the energy and, therefore, economic performance of the installation.
Finally, it should be noted that this is a project that will actually be put into practice, which lends
credibility to the work presented.
