Design with nature. System design for collecting and sorting textiles

Abstract

[ES] El reto planteado consiste en optimizar el proceso de recogida y clasificación de la ropa desechada para Sympany, una de las mayores empresas de recolección y reciclaje de ropa de los Países Bajos. Basándonos en las relaciones simbióticas establecidas en la naturaleza creamos un sistema en el que Sympany colabora con Picnic (un supermercado online) buscando el beneficio mutuo y a su vez ofreciendo un nuevo servicio al cliente, de este modo todos obtienen algo a cambio.De esta forma el usuario recolecta la ropa que quiere donar, hace una sencilla clasificación (verano/invierno, mujer/hombre/niño) y lo registra en la aplicación móvil de Sympany que hemos desarrollado, obteniendo un código QR. Después hará un pedido a Picnic, con el que intercambiará la ropa por su compra, llenando el ahora espacio vacío en el camión. La donación se hace oficial cuando el trabajador de Picnic escanea el QR, además el usuario obtendrá puntos canjeables. Estos puntos podrían utilizarse en productos de Picnic o en tiendas de segunda mano colaboradoras con Sympany, creando un sistema totalmente circular en los Países Bajos.

[EN] The challenge set is optimizing the process of collection and sorting the clothes that are given away for the Company Sympany, that is one of the biggest companies in charge of collecting and repurposing clothes in The Netherlands. Based on the symbiotic relationship that are established in nature, we have developed a system in which Sympany collaborates with Picnic (on line supermarket). Looking for mutual benefits and offering the client a new service so everybody obtains something back. The user decides the clothes that want to donate, does a simple classification (Summer/Winter, Women/Man/Children) and register it on the Sympany¿s mobile app that we have developed, obtaining a QR code. After that, the client Will order for the Picnic and Exchange the clothes for the food, filling up the empty space left on the truck. The donation Will be official when the Picnic when the delivery man scans the QR. After that the user will obtain some exchangeable points. This points can be spent on Picnic itself or in second-hand shops that collaborate with Sympany, creating a completly textile circular chain in The Netherlands.
