dc.description.abstract | [EN] The motivation of the study comes from the environmental needs. We must be aware about the care of the planet, guaranteeing the use of renewable energies to achieve an increase of clean energies and therefore, being able to protect every kind of life existing on it. Moreover, with this type of energies, we manage to reduce the limited resources that the Earth is offering. The future of this project has the aim to achieve the environmental sustainability. It is only a matter of time before the energy sources currently in use will cease to be used, as there will come a point when it will no longer be profitable to exploit them. Therefore, they will not disappear but their use will. This is the reason why it is necessary to find new ways of obtaining energy and fuel that do not harm the environment or worsen the quality of life. Different biofuels have been developed to meet this demand and with the intention of replacing current fuels, which are divided into different groups or generations depending on the raw materials used, the production methods and the biofuels obtained. This project will study the three generations of biofuels and their properties as well as their current growth potential and whether they are a real alternatives to current fuels. | es_ES |

Por lo tanto, para satisfacer nuestras necesidades energéticas, se han explorado y se están explorando fuentes de energía alternativas. La energía solar, eólica y la biomasa son las principales fuentes de energía renovable. La biomasa, derivada de un precursor biológico, se ha utilizado para producir biocombustibles y bioproductos durante las últimas décadas. Dependiendo del tipo de biomasa, existen de la primera a la cuarta generación de biocombustibles. dc.description.abstract | [EN] The demand for fossil fuels is anticipated to grow 40% from 2010 to 2040. Therefore, to satisfy our energy needs, alternative energy sources have been, and are being, explored. Solar, wind and biomass are the major renewable energy sources. Biomass, derived from a biological precursor, has been used to produce biofuels and bioproducts over the last few decades. Depending on type of biomass, there are first to fourth biofuel generations. This project aims to study the different generations and to give a perspective of new forms of obtaining energy. | es_ES |
