| es_ES |
dc.description.abstract | [EN] This work has consisted in the development of algorithm programmed in MATLAB, which allows to the identification of turbulent structures. It studies their evolution and continuity throughout data obtained by direct numerical simulations. Beginning with data collected in a simulation and a post-process algorithm which already lets us to group individual points of the flux being part of a vortex. From this data for different discrete temporal steps, each structure is identified. In this way, we can follow each of them through the time, by connecting the structure in different temporal steps. Several interesting data related to eddies evolution can be obtained, such as the movement of mass centre, volume evolution, steps where the vortex is generated and dies and its velocity quadrant. This data can be applied to any DNS simulation where we know the mesh and velocity field. Data is saved in standard hdf5 format database. As well, representation algorithms in order to graphically display important parameters have been developed. These are Probability density functions of life span and volume of vortices and schematic evolution in both 2D and 3D of mass centre position, allowing to differentiate vortices in function of their size and velocity quadrant. Lastly, it has been generated a representation of the whole turbulent field, this lets us watch the evolution in a very clarifying way. We can represent, as well, each eddy in different colours according to its velocity quadrant, and we can select an individual vortex in order to highlight it. Videos of the evolution have been done from this representations. This algorithm has been used initially to study a low-Reynolds number Poiseulle turbulent flow and then it has been tested successfully with studies requiring very large computational resources. | es_ES |
