Privacidad en TikTok

Abstract

[ES] El presente trabajo versa a grandes rasgos sobre la privacidad en TikTok. En el trabajo se podrán estudiar los orígenes de la aplicación y las políticas de privacidad que ofrece. Nos permite una investigación profunda de las políticas de privacidad de China y sobre cómo el gobierno de este país maneja la ciberseguridad a su antojo para su supuesta seguridad nacional. Se realiza un estudio comparativo entre dos potencias tecnológicas que han avanzado en este campo a la par en los campos de tecnología y ciberseguridad, pero con puntos de vista muy diferentes; Estados Unidos y China. Aunque podríamos pensar que el mundo se encuentra dividido en dos partes o mas no es menos cierto que todas las partes comparten intereses. Es decir, las aplicaciones, aunque no son las mismas y tienen otros nombres, si coinciden en sus funciones. TikTok logró lo que tantos desearon, que fue unir dos mundos a través de un mismo idioma. La cantidad de usuarios que registra TikTok a nivel mundial no es comparable con ninguna otra aplicación. Precisamos que muchos países prohibieron el uso de la app por considerar que pone en riesgo la seguridad nacional. Los creadores de TikTok y Binance (plataforma de intercambio), se esfuerzan por silenciar esos rumores. Es importante informar a los usuarios sobre las políticas de protección de datos (debiera ser por la propia plataforma). No podemos olvidar que detrás de Binance se encuentra el gigante del oriente: China, que hoy en día posee el 1% de las acciones de TikTok, logrando introducirse en el consejo directivo de Binance. A la sombra de esos gigantes se encuentran los usuarios “TikTokers” que con un desconocimiento absoluto ceden sus datos personales e íntimos a “no se sabe quién” haciendo caso omiso a todo el peligro potencial de esta cesión. Se llevó a cabo una investigación de campo donde, a través de una encuesta simple, se sacaron unas interesantes conclusiones sobre lo que piensan los usuarios occidentales sobre el uso de TikTok. Conociendo las respuestas se pudo analizar de mejor forma este fenómeno TikTok.

[EN] The present work deals broadly with privacy and TikTok. I will start by explaining the origins of the app and the privacy policies it provides. The same thread of investigation led me to meddle in China's privacy policies. How the eastern country manages cybersecurity and the magnifying glass that the rest of the world puts on its methodologies. Making a parallel in terms of advances and technological powers, I will compare technology and cybersecurity in the United States. Although we can affirm that the world is divided between the East and the West, both hemispheres share interests. That is to say, the applications are not the same, they have other names, but their functions are. Notwithstanding the foregoing, TikTok achieved what so many wanted, which was to unite the East and the West through the same language. The number of users registered by TikTok globally is unmatched by any other app. We clarify that many countries have banned the use of the app considering that it puts national security at risk. The creators of TikTok, Binance, are trying hard to silence those rumors. They have made tutorials and different explanations for the platform itself to instruct its users about data protection policies. Now, behind Binance is the giant of the East: China. That today owns 1% of the shares of TikTok, managing to enter the board of directors of Binance. In the shadow of these giants are the users – Tiktokeros – who with absolute ignorance provide their data, ignoring everyone around them. I have carried out a field investigation, where through a simple survey it has been possible to penetrate the minds of TikTok users. Using your answers, I have created a profile, a way of thinking and analyzing the phenomenon common to all.
