Vivienda Evolutiva

Abstract

[ES] Posiblemente comprarte “tu casa” sea una de las decisiones más importante que tomas a lo largo de tu vida. Encuentras tu primer trabajo, ahorras y decides mudarte, te compras una casa pequeña, lo que te permite tu salario y es suficiente para ti, con un dormitorio, un baño, una cocina y un pequeño salón-comedor. Los años pasan y tus circunstancias cambian, tu nivel de ingresos aumenta, igual lo hacen también los usuarios de tu unidad doméstica. En definitiva, el lugar que en un principio era el adecuado para ti se ha dejado de adaptar a tus necesidades y necesitas buscar otro. ¿O no? De ahí nace el concepto de casa evolutiva o crecedera. Una vivienda que evoluciona a la par que los individuos que la habitan, contraria a la idea de vivienda tradicional, un espacio rígido, estático y sin posibilidad de transformación. En este nuevo concepto no son los usuarios los que se adaptan a la vivienda, sino la vivienda a los usuarios. En distintos movimientos, épocas y lugares, multitud de arquitectos han estudiado la posibilidad de una vivienda progresiva que, al igual que los organismos, va cambiando y evolucionando a lo largo del tiempo. Desde el norte de Europa, con una tecnología muy avanzada y un sistema de prefabricación donde todo encaja a la perfección; hasta la India, con una búsqueda de una solución más económica a través de la autoconstrucción. Arquitectos como Jørn Utzon y Balkrishna Doshi han investigado y ofrecido soluciones al concepto de la vivienda semilla, pero, desde perspectivas socioeconómicas muy distintas. El propósito de este trabajo es una investigación y reflexión acerca de este nuevo concepto de vivienda, mucho más flexible, que posiblemente cambie el modelo de vivienda actual. Para ello, se estudiarán las diferentes estrategias y mecanismos de ampliación de la vivienda y la problemática existente de estas nuevas casas. Posteriormente, tras una visión global, nos centraremos en los dos casos anteriormente citados, el Sistema Espansiva de Jørn Utzon y la Vivienda semilla en Aranya de Balkrishna Doshi, viendo como la casa evolutiva se aplica y funciona en dos lugares con una economía, tradiciones, y climas muy distintos. [EN] Probably, buying “your house” is one of the most important decisions you make throughout your life. You find your first job, save your own money, and decide to move, you buy a small house, which your salary allows and is enough for you, with a bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchen and a small living and dining room. The years go by, and your circumstances change, your income increases, as do the users of your unit. In short, the place that was initially the right one for you, no longer fits to your necessities and you need to find another one. Don’t you? Hence the concept of evolutionary or growing home is born. A house that evolves with the individuals who inhabit it, contrary to the idea of traditional housing, a rigid, static place with no possibility of transformation. In this new concept, the users don’t have to adapt themselves to the house, but the house to the users. In different movements, times and places, many architects have studied the possibility of a progressive home that, like an organism, changes and evolves over time. From the north of Europe, with highly advanced technology and a prefabrication system where everything fits together, to India, with a search for a cheaper construction through self-construction. Architects as Jørn Utzon or Balkrishna Doshi have researched and offered solutions to the seed house concept, but from different socioeconomic perspectives. The purpose of this study is research and a reflection about this new concept of housing, much more flexible, which possibly changes the current housing model. The different strategies and mechanisms for housing expansion and the current problem of these new houses will be studied. After a global vision, we will focus on the two aforementioned cases, the Expansive Construction System by Jørn Utzon and the houses in Aranya Low Cost Housing by Balkrishna Doshi, seeing how the evolutionary housing is applied and works in two places with different economy, traditions and climate.
