Morvedre 2030. Centro cívico y huerta urbana

Abstract

[ES] Al norte del centro histórico de Valencia se ubican una serie de barrios nacidos de la antigua vía augusta, lo que ahora se conoce como calle Sagunto. Estos barrios conforman el distrito de la Saidïa, entre ellos el barrio de Morvedre. Es un área de actuación en el que son protagonistas las trazas de los elementos originales del barrio. Estos elementos originarios se contraponen con las retículas y ángulos rectos del nuevo planteamiento urbano, creando un alto contraste entre la tradición, el patrimonio y el crecimiento reticular de las manzanas. Como en cualquier proyecto de ensanche urbano, se generan conflictos entre el planeamiento y su resultado, suelen provocarse desconexiones y vacíos urbanos debidos a las dificultades de surgen entre las propiedades existentes y el plan urbano que se propone. Esta es una realidad particularmente notable en el entorno de la antigua vía augusta, y no es más que el resultado de la degradación que sufre el barrio de Morvedre. Degradación provocada por la falta de equipamiento, envejecimiento demográfico y poca actividad económica. La propuesta gira a un ordenamiento de la zona que pretende coser las manzanas y proporcionar al barrio de una nueva vida social, cultural y económica, una oportunidad para regenerar y reactivar Morvedre. El proyecto se encuadra dentro de este ordenamiento, y se concibe como un centro cívico y social, el nuevo corazón del barrio.

[EN] To the north of the historic center of Valencia there are a series of neighbourhoods born from the old Via Augusta, which is now known as Sagunto Street. These neighbourhoods make up the Saidïa district, including the Morvedre neighbourhood. It is an area of action in which the traces of the original elements of the neighbourhood are protagonists. These original elements are contrasted with the reticles and right angles of the new urban approach, creating a high contrast between tradition, heritage and the reticular growth of the blocks. As in any urban expansion project, conflicts are generated between the planning and its result, disconnections and urban voids tend to be caused due to the difficulties that arise between the existing properties and the proposed urban plan. This is a particularly notable reality in the surroundings of the old Via Augusta, and it is nothing more than the result of the degradation suffered by the Morvedre neighbourhood. Degradation is caused by lack of equipment, demographic ageing and little economic activity. The proposal turns to an ordering of the area that aims to sew the apples and provide the neighbourhood with a new social, cultural and economic life, an opportunity to regenerate and reactivate Morvedre. The project falls within this order and is conceived as a civic and social centre, the new heart of the neighbourhood.
