[EN] Andrés Jaque, the architect who founded the Office for Political Innovation (Offpolin) belongs to a group of architects who, since leaving the Madrid school, have been trying to transform the way we think about architecture. Phrases such as 'architecture is society itself' or 'everything is a Project are two of the many thoughts shared on the networks by Jaque as part of an intense activity of critical reflection that accompanies some quite singular and usually polemical architectural projects that have taken shape..
Twenty years after finishing his architecture degree at the University School of Architecture in Madrid, the studio of the current dean of the Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation of Columbia University in New York has built the Reggio School in Madrid, possibly Offpolin's largest building in terms of surface area. This private, secular school, based on the principles of Reggio Emilia, is the result of a way of doing things that creates associations between categories that normally exclude each other, between the technical and the political, between the procedural and the material. The debate between fans and haters of this type of production, which deliberately distances itself from modern architecture and conventional languages, is in this case based on the formal universe of an artefact with "eyes and bugs", which avoids the disciplinary nature typical of school buildings.
