Abstract

[ES] Las personas mayores son los transmisores de la experiencia y la sabiduría, y en muchas ocasiones parece que olvidamos la importancia de los espacios que habitan, para centrarnos en otros que nos convienen en mayor medida. Si miramos a nuestro alrededor, esta problemática es inevitable y es que la mayoría de residencias de ancianos han pasado a ubicarse en las afueras de las localidades, en un entorno inmediato que no facilita su integración social. Sin embargo, las nuevas generaciones tampoco lo tienen sencillo. Vivimos en una sociedad marcada por unos alquileres cada vez más altos, acompañados por unos sueldos bajos y una oferta de viviendas que se aleja considerablemente de resolver la demanda de las nuevas formas de habitar. Esto ha provocado una independencia y realización personal que cada vez parece alejarse más de nuestro alcance. Está claro que la vida no es fácil para nadie, pero si lo analizamos, los extremos son siempre los más afectados. Cuanto más avanza la sociedad más parece que dejamos de ser nosotros para pasar a ser `nosotros por una parte¿ y `ellos por otra¿, y aunque todos entendemos que es necesaria cierta diferenciación, no podemos permitir que esta nos lleve a la sensación de aislamiento y soledad no buscada. La solución a esto pasa por recuperar las interacciones naturales y fomentar la cultura del entendimiento, que nos acerque a una sociedad para todas las edades. Este proyecto surge ante la existencia de esta problemática en la localidad de Nules, donde por un lado tenemos una residencia de ancianos con un entorno totalmente deshumanizado y una forma de habitar nada atractiva, y, por otro lado, tenemos a los jóvenes que quieren independizarse y se encuentran con la barrera económica y una oferta escasa. Por todo esto, se plantea la creación por un lado de una residencia intergeneracional que abarque la problemática desde ambos lados y fomente el reencuentro entre las personas, y por otro lado el incremento de la actividad mediante la implantación de servicios tanto académicos como lúdicos que reconecten la zona con la población, buscando un aprovechamiento de las conexiones entre las distintas generaciones y ofreciendo beneficios mutuos que nos acerquen a una sociedad más justa y empática.

[EN] Older people are the transmitters of experience and wisdom, and on many occasions it seems that we forget the importance of the spaces they inhabit, to focus on others that suit us more. If we look around us, this problem is inevitable and is that most nursing homes have moved to the outskirts of the localities, in an immediate environment that does not facilitate their social integration. However, the new generations do not have it simple either. We live in a society marked by ever higher rents, accompanied by low salaries and a housing supply that is far from meeting the demand for new forms of living. This has led to an independence and personal fulfilment that seems to be getting further and further out of reach. It is clear that life is not easy for anyone, but if we analyze it, the extremes are always the most affected. The more society advances the more it seems that we cease to be us to become 'us on the one hand' and 'them on the other', and although we all understand that a certain differentiation is necessary, we cannot allow this to lead us to the feeling of isolation and unwanted loneliness. The solution to this is to recover natural interactions and foster a culture of understanding that brings us closer to a society for all ages. This project arises from the existence of this problem in the town of Nules, where on the one hand we have a nursing home with a totally dehumanized environment and a way of living unattractive, and, on the other hand, we have young people who want to become independent and find themselves with the economic barrier and a scarce supply. For all this, the creation of an intergenerational residence on the one hand that covers the problem from both sides and encourages the reunion between people is proposed, and on the other hand the increase in activity through the implementation of both academic and recreational services that reconnect the area with the population, seeking to take advantage of the connections between different generations and offering mutual benefits that bring us closer to a more just and empathetic society.
