La sombra del relieve no es alargada

Abstract

[ES] El relieve, como disciplina escultórica, tiene una semejanza al dibujo y a la pintura. Se representan los volúmenes y se insinúan diferentes grados de profundidad. A lo largo de la historia el relieve se ha utilizado de forma narrativa para transmitir información de diferentes actos cotidianos, personajes históricos, escenas bélicas. Ha sido una forma de transmitir información visualmente más allá de la palabra escrita. Hoy en día este tipo de representación se ve restringida al campo artístico y en situaciones muy concretas. Ese valor narrativo ha caído en desuso en nuestra sociedad por la inmediatez de la imagen como elemento narrativo. En nuestro trabajo queremos rescatar la técnica del relieve y hacer valer su carácter narrativo para ponerlo de nuevo en valor como sistema de representación. Para ello vamos a realizar una serie de relieves donde reflejaremos diferentes aspectos de la vida cotidiana mediante la animación de diferentes objetos de uso. El soporte que utilizaremos para ello lo habremos integrado con materiales de desecho de piedra ornamental. Con ello introduciremos el reciclaje en la práctica artística como aportación personal para la protección del medio ambiente.

[EN] The relief, as a sculptural discipline, has a similarity to drawing and painting. The volumes are represented and different degrees of depth are insinuated. Throughout history, relief has been used in a narrative way to convey information about different daily acts, historical figures, war scenes. It has been a way of conveying information visually beyond the written word. Today this type of representation is restricted to the artistic field and in very specific situations. This narrative value has fallen into disuse in our society due to the immediacy of the image as a narrative element. In our work we want to rescue the technique of relief and assert its narrative character to put it back in value as a representation system. For this we are going to make a series of reliefs where we will reflect different aspects of everyday life through the animation of different objects of use. The support that we will use for this will have been integrated with ornamental stone waste materials. With this we will introduce recycling in artistic practice as a personal contribution to the protection of the environment.
