[EN] To ensure the exchange of information between a satellite and a ground station, it is crucial to secure a stable communication link for the longest possible time. In this project, the primary goal is to determine a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) that maximizes the visibility time of a CubeSat satellite with a ground station. This project focuses on a station located at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV).
A SGP4 (Simplified General Perturbations model 4) propagator has been designed to model the position of an object orbiting around the Earth. This model, using a Two Line Element (TLE) data input, calculates the satellite's position and speed over a period, taking into account perturbations such as Earth's gravity, atmospheric resistance, and the gravitational influence of the Sun and the Moon. Furthermore, it calculates visibility periods concerning a given ground station.
To determine the optimal orbital parameters, a Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm has been implemented, using the MATLAB application, to calculate the maximum visibility time.
