| es_ES |
dc.description.abstract | [EN] The remote photoplethysmography (PPG) signal obtained from a thermal camera can be affected by the presence of non-living tissue, occlusions, low visibility, or patient motion which reduces its quality. Some current measurement techniques require attachment of sensors to the patient¿s body, often leading to discomfort, stress and even pain. Assessment of the quality of remote measures like respiration and heart rates may favor the correct use of these in the clinical setting. In this paper, the hypothesis to be addressed states that the use of thermal imaging will allow accurate detection and categorization of living tissue, which will improve the quality of the photoplethysmography signal. To substantiate this hypothesis, a model for the detection and categorization of living tissue using an adaptative threshold to avoid inconsistencies in non-ideal scenarios by using thermal image processing will be developed, and the relationship between the quality of the photoplethysmography signal and the presence of non-living tissue will be studied. Moreover, it is expected to arrive at a non-invasive tissue detection model susceptible to be used in the clinical setting with which we can determine the reliability of the remote PPG signal by observing the parameters of the sensor in addition to the evaluation of environmental and patient parameters that may be considered relevant when it comes to the effect these have over the reliability of the remote PPG signal as well as improve the quality of this by eliminating interference caused by non-living tissue and occlusions which would favor its use in medical and monitoring applications with greater accuracy and reliability. | en_EN |
