Lugar para la cultura y la colaboración en Morvedre

Abstract

[ES] Durante el dominio del antiguo imperio romano en la península ibérica, se realizaron grandes infraestructuras viarias a modo de ejes que conectaban las distintas regiones con un fin estratégico y comercial. La Vía Augusta fue un eje vertebrador fundamental para el desarrollo de la antigua ciudad de Valencia. El barrio de Morvedre creció sobre ésta vía como una población exterior y fue, históricamente, la antesala septentrional de la ciudad, un lugar de paso y encuentro necesario para el comercio del norte.

La realidad actual del barrio difiere de lo que una vez llegó a ser, el crecimiento de la ciudad engulló a Morvedre, parte de su superficie cayó en desuso y en el olvido, convirtiéndose en un barrio residencial con crecientes problemas demográficos. "Camí i trobada¿, nace de una visión retrospectiva de lo que una vez llegó a ser Morvedre, un lugar que se nutre del camino, la actual Calle de Sagunto, que se originó a raíz de él y que sirvió de encuentro a vecinos y comerciantes hasta mediados del siglo XIX.

La intervención busca la re-utilización del espacio olvidado, cosiendo el entramado urbano del barrio, conectando con los grandes espacios verdes cercanos así como Marxalenes, Viveros y Jardines del Turia a través de un eje verde. A su vez, el proyecto persigue reanudar el diálogo entre dos manzanas enfrentadas con la peatonalización de una sección de la calle principal y generando un lugar de convivencia para el barrio. Se consigue dotar de entidad propia y de conjunto a las dos manzanas de una forma sostenible y conservando aquellas estructuras que están integradas en la trama urbana. El programa se compone de un centro cívico, con espacios de cultura, de colaboración, de atención y cuidado al ciudadano y de creación de vivienda pública adaptada a las necesidades del barrio.

[EN] During the rule of the ancient Roman Empire in the Iberian Peninsula, large road infrastructures were built as axes that connected the different regions with a strategic and commercial purpose. The Vía Augusta was a fundamental backbone for the development of the ancient city of Valencia. The Morvedre neighborhood grew on this road as an outside population and was, historically, the northern prelude to the city, a necessary place of passage and meeting place for trade from the north.

The current reality of the neighborhood differs from what it once was, the growth of the city engulfed Morvedre, part of its surface fell into disuse and oblivion, becoming a residential neighborhood with growing demographic problems. "Camí i trobada", originates from a retrospective vision of what once came to be Morvedre, a place that is nourished by the road, the current Calle de Sagunto, which originated as a result of it and which is a characteristic of meeting neighbors and merchants until the middle of the 19th century.

The intervention seeks to reuse the forgotten space, stitching together the urban fabric of the neighborhood, connecting with the large nearby green spaces as well as Marxalenes, Viveros and Jardines del Turia through a green axis. In turn, the project seeks to resume the dialogue between two blocks facing each other with the pedestrianization of a section of the main street and discover a place of coexistence for the neighborhood. It is possible to endow the two blocks with their own entity and as a whole in a sustainable way and preserving those structures that are integrated into the urban fabric. The program is made up of a civic center, with spaces for culture, collaboration, attention and care for the citizen and the creation of public housing adapted to the needs of the neighbourhood.
