Timmy & Jimmy. Preproducción y producción de un cortometraje animado 2D.

Abstract

[ES] Timmy & Jimmy es un cortometraje animado en 2D que gira en torno a dos personajes, Timmy, una mosca que se va de vacaciones al Caribe; y Jimmy, una rana hambrienta que intenta comerse a Timmy, pero acaba fallando estrepitosamente. Este pequeño cortometraje sería el primer capítulo de una serie animada, que sigue el camino de uno de los grandes referentes que he tomado, ¿El coyote y el Correcaminos¿ de gran animador Chuck Jones, y del cual a su vez a inspirado otras series del mismo estilo como ¿Tom y Jerry¿. Mientras que, por otra parte, he tomado referentes estéticos como Gil Alkabetz por el concepto que él nombra como ¿minimal storytelling¿, no tanto por las historias de un segundo, sino por la idea de contar una historia con la mínima cantidad de elementos posibles, añadiendo tan solo lo esencial para que el espectador entienda que está pasando. Este proyecto abarca desde lo esencial para la preproducción y producción de un corto animado, desde la elaboración de la idea, pasando por los diseños de los personajes, escenarios, guion, storyboard, layout, color, etc.; hasta finalmente la animación final y la postproducción que requiera. Algunos de estos procesos es preferible hacerlos de manera tradicional, es decir, con papel y lápiz, pero la producción de la animación final será realizada de manera digital, haciendo uso de las tecnologías que disponemos a día de hoy y que ayudan al medio ambiente por la menor cantidad de recursos que se utilizan para ello y lo que esto conlleva. El corto final tendrá una duración de 2-3 minutos aproximadamente.

[EN] Timmy & Jimmy is a 2D animated short film that revolves around two characters, Timmy, a fly that goes on vacation to the Caribbean; and Jimmy, a hungry frog who tries to eat Timmy, but ends up failing miserably. This short film would be the first chapter of an animated series, which follows the path of one of the great references I have taken, "The Coyote and the Road Runner" by great animator Chuck Jones, and which in turn has inspired other series of the same style as "Tom and Jerry". While, on the other hand, I have taken aesthetic references such as Gil Alkabetz for the concept he names as "minimal storytelling", not so much for the stories of a second, but for the idea of telling a story with the minimum amount of possible elements, adding only the essential so that the viewer understands what is happening. This project ranges from the essentials for the pre-production and production of an animated short, from the elaboration of the idea, through the designs of the characters, scenarios, script, storyboard, layout, color, etc.; until finally the final animation and postproduction that requires. Some of these processes are preferable to do them in a traditional way, that is, with paper and pencil, but the production of the final animation will be done digitally, making use of the technologies that we have today and that help the environment for the less amount of resources that are used for it and what this entails. The final short will last approximately 2-3 minutes.
