Abstract

[EN] Understanding and revealing our place in the world, both geographically and culturally, is one of the reasons for the work we do every day. Brazil is a country on a continental scale where practically everyone speaks the same language, but which nevertheless still preserves more than two hundred native languages that are a living cultural heritage. It is therefore an obligation to protect these communities and preserve this heritage. We are the only country in the Americas that speaks Portuguese, a fact that, in a way, isolates us between the Atlantic Ocean and the Andes Mountains, as if we were between Latin America, Europe and Africa. We believe that our architecture reflects this position in several ways. The speciality, even in small-scale projects, incorporates the presence of this vast territory as a culture, its fauna and flora.

[ES] Entender y revelar nuestro lugar en el mundo, tanto geográfica como culturalmente, es una de las razones del trabajo que realizamos día a día. Brasil es un país de escala continental donde prácticamente todos hablan el mismo idioma, pero que sin embargo aún conserva más de doscientas lenguas nativas que son un patrimonio cultural vivo. Es, por tanto, una obligación proteger esas comunidades y preservar ese legado. Somos el único país de América que habla portugués, hecho que, de cierta manera, nos aísla entre el Océano Atlántico y la Cordillera de los Andes. Como si estuviéramos entreAmérica Latina, Europa y África. Creemos que nuestra arquitectura refleja esa posición en varios sentidos. La especialidad, inclusive en proyectos de pequeña escala, incorpora la presencia de ese vasto territorio como cultura, su fauna y flora.
