Re-discovering vernacular landscapes: Mediterranean Coast. Amidst shadows and harvests

Abstract

[EN] In El Palmar, the Trilladora del Tocaio has been a meeting place for decades for local farmers and a silent witness to the passage of time. The project seeks to revitalize the tradition and bring cohesion to the community through a research and market center for growing and marketing local products. Together, these uses seek to foster collaboration and community cohesion around the region's identity and progress.

The goal of the project is to achieve adaptability over time that benefits the community and the progress of the site. As a tool, a structure and a roof adapted to the Trilladora are designed to respond to the changing needs of the community. They seek the transformation of new spaces to foster cohesion and integration and build a sustainable future that respects the tradition of the Palmar.

The final result shows how progress can coexist with tradition, and the structure reflects the connection between the land, the building and the community to achieve lasting adaptability that benefits the community and the progress of the site.

[ES] En El Palmar, la Trilladora del Tocaio ha sido durante décadas un lugar de encuentro para agricultores locales y un testigo mudo del paso del tiempo. El proyecto busca revitalizar la tradición y cohesionar la comunidad mediante un centro de investigación y mercado para el cultivo y comercialización de productos locales. Juntos, estos usos buscan fomentar la colaboración y la cohesión comunitaria en torno a la identidad y el progreso de la región.

El objetivo del proyecto es conseguir una adaptabilidad a lo largo del tiempo que beneficie a la comunidad y al progreso del lugar. Como herramienta se diseña una estructura y una cubierta adaptada a la trilladora que puedan responder a las necesidades cambiantes de la comunidad. Buscan la transformación de nuevos espacios para fomentar la cohesión e integración y construir un futuro sostenible y respetuoso con la tradición del Palmar.

El resultado final muestra cómo el progreso puede coexistir con la tradición, y la estructura refleja la conexión entre la tierra, el edificio y la comunidad para lograr alcanzar una adaptabilidad duradera que beneficie a la comunidad y al progreso del lugar.
