Habitar el muro: Centro de estudios de formación profesional en Benlloch.

Abstract

[ES] Frente al conflicto territorial que supone la relación entre Benlloch y el aeropuerto de Castellón, se trata de buscar ciertos nexos que puedan hacer de esta relación algo beneficioso para ambas partes. Bajo este principio, se absorbe la necesidad por parte del aeropuerto de crear un centro formativo de estudios aeronáuticos y se incorporan al mismo centro las ramas agropecuaria y gastronómica; fundamentales en la cultura de la zona. Esto se hace con la finalidad de crear lazos no tan sólo entre el pueblo y el aeropuerto, sino también entre las diferentes generaciones que allí conviven.

La propuesta para materializar este programa nace del concepto de Habitar el Muro. Este concepto se extrae de la arquitectura vernácula de Benlloch, especialmente de los edificios religiosos que envuelven y caracterizan la zona donde se implanta el centro formativo. Partiendo de este concepto, el proyecto se formaliza mediante las reglas y los ritmos dictados tanto por la parcela agrícola en la que se sitúa como por el programa al que responde.

En cuanto a la construcción del proyecto, se trata de responder a las necesidades de la sociedad actual, que exige que la arquitectura se dirija hacia un camino donde la sostenibilidad y la gestión responsable de los recursos naturales cobran cada vez más importancia. Bajo esta premisa, y en relación con el propio concepto del proyecto, se emplea el muro tapial como sistema constructivo y estructural, siguiendo las reglas que establece el material e incorporando las técnicas actuales con la finalidad de cumplir los estándares físicos y normativos exigidos.

[EN] Faced with the territorial conflict that the relationship between Benlloch and the Castellón airport entails, it is about looking for certain links that can make this relationship something beneficial for both parties. Under this principle, the need on the part of the airport to create a training center for aeronautical studies is absorbed and the agricultural and gastronomic branches are incorporated into the same center; fundamental to the culture of the area. This is done in order to create ties not only between the town and the airport, but also between the different generations that live there.

The proposal to materialize this program stems from the concept of Inhabiting the Wall. This concept is extracted from the vernacular architecture of Benlloch, especially from the religious buildings that surround and characterize the area where the training center is located. Starting from this concept, the project is formalized through the rules and rhythms dictated both by the agricultural plot in which it is located and by the program to which it responds.

As for the construction of the project, it is about responding to the needs of today's society, which requires architecture to move towards a path where sustainability and responsible management of natural resources are becoming increasingly important. Under this premise, and in relation to the very concept of the project, the mud wall is used as a constructive and structural system, following the rules established by the material and incorporating current techniques in order to meet the required physical and regulatory standards.
