Arquitectura art deco en Valencia

Abstract

[ES] La presencia de arquitectura Art Déco es huella de crecimiento, riqueza y modernidad en un periodo específico. Difundido por el mundo del cine se mostraba sofisticado y lujoso en sus inicios, rico en materiales y ornamentos geométricos. Por otro lado, aun estando de moda siempre existieron otras alternativas. Y con el paso del tiempo se fue popularizando y simplificando, casi al punto de parecer racionalista o moderno. Por décadas ha sido olvidado y rechazado, pero en los últimos años ha surgido un interés en conservar este patrimonio en la Ciudad de Valencia por parte de la población. Estudiando e investigando las características del estilo Art Déco, se busca identificar las edificaciones de esta corriente que permita en algunos casos reclasificarlas y/o catalogarlas a base de sus características. Creando un documento que permita mostrar el espectro de este estilo. El reconocimiento de las obras arquitectónicas de este estilo podría revalorarla y por lo tanto salvarla del olvido y el abandono. Analizando el estado actual y las restauraciones ejecutadas, se podría reivindicar y conservar edificaciones e interiores de este movimiento con toda su esencia.

[EN] The presence of Art Deco architecture is a trace of growth, wealth and modernity in a specific period. Spread throughout the world of cinema, it was sophisticated and luxurious in its beginnings, rich in materials and geometric ornaments. On the other hand, even though it was fashionable, there were always other alternatives. And as time went by it became popularized and simplified, almost to the point of looking rationalist or modern. For decades it has been forgotten and rejected, but in recent years there has been an interest in preserving this heritage in the City of Valencia, by the population. By studying and investigating the characteristics of the Art Deco style, we seek to identify the buildings of this trend, allowing in some cases to be reclassified and/or cataloged based on their characteristics. Creating a document that allows you to show the spectrum of this style. The recognition of architectural works of this style could revalue it and therefore save it from oblivion and abandonment. By analyzing the current state and the restorations carried out, buildings and interiors of this movement could be reclaimed and preserved with all its essence.
