ANIMAL: Imagen como vestigio en el arte contemporáneo

Abstract

[EN] ANIMAL is an artistic project work in progress- that starts within the context of Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua; a place where there is a problem regarding the abandonment of animals, both alive and dead - mostly dogs - and which has been part of our daily lives. This problem is so evident that it already seems to be invisible to our eyes; therefore, it shows the uncontrolled proliferation that is still constantly growing. This behavior of animal abandonment in society happens both locally, in the state, and at the national level, including many Latin American countries that share the same phenomenon, and it has been carried on for generations. Consequently, as a visual artist, I incorporate through the creative process, a critical social approach based on the photographic collection and the art-object as a fundamental part of what the project has been building.

[ES] ANIMAL es un proyecto artístico work in progress- que parte dentro del contexto en ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua; lugar donde existe una problemática en cuanto al abandono de animales, tanto vivos como muertos -en su mayoría perros- y que ha formado parte de nuestra cotidianidad. Dicha problemática es tan evidente, que ya parece ser invisible a nuestra mirada, por lo tanto, muestra esta proliferación descontrolada que aún se mantiene en constante crecimiento. Esta conducta de abandono animal en la sociedad, sucede tanto en la localidad, en el estado, y a nivel nacional, incluyendo, gran parte de países latinoamericanos comparten el mismo fenómeno, y que ha sido arrastrado por generaciones. En consecuencia, como artista visual, incorporo a través del proceso creativo, un acercamiento critico social a partir del acervo fotográfico y el arte-objeto como parte fundamental de lo que el proyecto se ha estado construyendo.
