dc.description.abstract | [EN] Gender-based violence is a threat to women's safety worldwide. The perception of public spaces as a real or perceived threat to women ("fear of space") is an important factor in considering urban safety and can play a key role in preventing gender-based violence by perpetrators who are strangers to the victim. This article discusses strategies for identifying geo-referenced variables to model this perception of urban space as a risk space for this type of gender-based violence. The various data required are costly to obtain and need to be kept up to date. For this reason, data provided by the open data portals of the Spanish, Valencian and local administrations and the OpenStreetMap platform were used. Information was obtained on socio-economic variables, the services sector, real-time traffic information and real estate data. As a first step, this paper presents a statistical study to determine and validate the correlation between these variables. The results of the study show a moderately high correlation between the selected real estate variables. The remaining variables show a moderate or low correlation. In addition to the results obtained, the existence of open data offered by government agencies in studies related to the evaluation of safety in public spaces is of fundamental importance. | es_ES |
