Cartografías de una orilla sin río. Centro de formación profesional en Benlloc

Abstract

[ES] El presente Trabajo Final de Máster marca como objetivo la inserción del borde fluvial del Barranc de les Danses en la trama urbana del municipio de Benlloc. La población se sitúa a menos de seis kilómetros del Aeropuerto de Castellón, una infraestructura fallida de 5.400.000 m2 concebida en su inicio para atraer turismo nacional e internacional a la provincia. Con el fin de rentabilizarla, las inversiones en la misma han ido destinadas a atraer empresas de reparación de aviones o reciclaje de fuselajes, así como también se ha creado una infraestructura educativa temporal de Formación Profesional Aeronáutica.

Benlloc, que rechaza la industrialización de pueblos vecinos y posee la política de preservar tanto el entorno de huerta tradicional como su propio carácter, se contrapone al menos ideológicamente a un crecimiento exponencial del aeropuerto, debido a que este se plantea unido a un aumento de dotaciones vecinas que provocaría un efecto de mancha de aceite en el territorio. El conflicto, visto desde la distancia, puede entenderse como una especie de David contra Goliat actualizado, y sin embargo recurrir a esta narrativa sería caer en la simplificación de una realidad compleja que plantea preguntas con mucho más alcance que las que puedan surgir a raíz de un dramatismo injusto, de una nostalgia antes de tiempo.

Se toma el proyecto educativo como único punto de acuerdo entre población y aeropuerto, y se localiza a su vez en otra aparente infraestructura inutilizada, esta vez natural: el cauce de un río seco que ahora recibe el nombre de Barranc de les Danses, y que bordea el frente sur del municipio. La intención es estudiar la posibilidad de una arquitectura que no funciona tanto como mediación sino como válvula de escape, que asume impulsos y deseos antagónicos, los superpone en la trama y les propone un espacio físico. La investigación del aula como casa, las filias y fobias entre los espacios privados y públicos, la pregunta de dónde se ejerce la libertad o dónde se piensa, nuestra relación actual con las nuevas formas de conocimiento o la sospecha frente aquello a lo que llamamos progreso son algunas preguntas encontradas a partir de la inserción del proyecto en la geometría fragmentada de esta orilla sobre la que el pueblo se desmonta, cae en cascada, se olvida.

[EN] The objective of this Master¿s Final Project is the insertion of a river edge into the urban planning of the municipality of Benlloc. The town is located less than six kilometers away from Castellón Airport, a failed infrastructure of 5,400,000 m2 conceived at the beginning to attract national and international tourism to the province. In order to make it profitable, investments in it have been aimed at attracting aircraft repair or airframe recycling companies, as well as the creation of a temporary educational infrastructure.

Benlloc, which rejects the industrialization of neighboring towns and has the policy of preserving both the traditional orchard environment and his own character, is at least ideologically opposed to an exponential growth of the airport, because this is proposed together with an increase in neighboring endowments that would cause an oil slick effect on the territory. The conflict, seen from a distance, can be understood as a kind of modernized David versus Goliath, but to resort this narrative would be to simplify a complex reality that raises questions with much more scope that those that may arise from self-imposed drama or from an unnatural nostalgia, given before its time.

The educational project is taken as the only point of agreement between the town and the airport, and it is located in another apparent unused infrastructure, this time natural: the bed of a dry river that now receives the name of Barranc de les Danses, and that borders the southern front of the municipality. The intention is to study the possibility of an architecture that functions not so much as mediation but as an exhaust valve, that assumes antagonistic impulses and desires, superimposes them on the territory and proposes a physical space for them. The investigation of the classroom as a house, the philias and phobias between the private and public spaces, the question of where freedom is exercised or where it is thought, our current relationship with the new ways of knowledge, or the suspicion against what we call progress are some questions found from the insertion of a project in the fragmented geometry of this shore on which the town cascades down, gets disassembled, forgotten.
