Laboratorio de Luz. Over 30 years of research in art, science and technology in the Spanish landscape

Abstract

[EN] n 2023, the Laboratorio de Luz (UPV) turns 33, and it is a good time to reflect, and share that reflection, on the contributions and positionings of the work carried out by this group of researchers and artistic collective that is considered to be one of the first nodes of university, art, science and technology in the Spanish scene. Rethinking the work of this collective also involves reviewing the conditions of possibility that existed in the Spanish context 30 years ago and those that exist today for art-science-technology research in Spain. Reviewing the Laboratorio de Luz (Light Laboratory) is also making the exercise of understanding the importance of the evolution of interdisciplinary collaboration and the value of individual contributions in the collective within the framework of art research and university artistic teaching in the Spanish context.

[ES] En 2023, el Laboratorio de Luz (UPV) cumple 33 años, y es un buen momento para reflexionar y compartir esa reflexión sobre las aportaciones y los posicionamientos del trabajo realizado por este grupo de investigadores y colectivo artístico, que está considerado como uno de los primeros nodos de universidad, arte, ciencia y tecnología del panorama español. Repensar el trabajo de este colectivo implica también revisar las condiciones de posibilidad que existían en el contexto español hace 30 años y las que existen actualmente para la investigación arte-ciencia-tecnología en España. Revisar el Laboratorio de Luz es también atender al ejercicio de comprender la importancia de la evolución de la colaboración interdisciplinar y el valor de las aportaciones individuales en lo colectivo en el marco de la investigación en arte y la docencia artística universitaria en el contexto español.
