[EN] This painting work aims to explore the representation of memory and forgetfulness, the abyss of loneliness through the spatial fixation of time. The initial motivation arises from a family member's neurodegenerative disease.
During the creative process, related themes such as the loss of identity are also addressed. Part of the process is based on the photography from the grandfather's life album and the investigation of memories. To capture the essential elements, prior research of artworks is conducted, seeking key information and references to document, relate, and create.
The production itself is composed, in addition to multiple sketches and essays, of five works of different sizes, two of which address the theme of forgetfulness, bringing them to the field of abstraction and its evocative power. On the other hand, the last three works evoke the loss of identity, using figuration and its metaphorical capacity. The hybridization of the abstract with the figurative allows for a complex reflection on fear, forgetfulness, and death.
