Midnight Creatures

Abstract

[EN] Midnight Creatures is an editorial and analog photography project which seeks to represent the current Drag and performance panorama in Spain through the decontextualization of the Drag character from its natural urban environment. The project is compiled and laid out in the form of a hypothetical issue of the Barcelona-based magazine METAL. Analog photography takes a leading role in the project, using it as a base and inspiration for it; considering the characteristics of the chosen film, the Kodak GOLD 200, as a foundation to carry out the project. A warm, and soft film that evokes feelings of nostalgia. On the other hand, we have Drag, which has an extravagant and groundbreaking nature, completely opposite to the feeling of analog photography. The idea of this project is to bring together both characteristics in an editorial context, challenging the standards of the current scene.

[ES] Midnight Creatures es un reportaje fotográfico editorial analógico, el cual busca representar el panorama Drag y performático español actual por medio de la descontextualización del personaje Drag de su ambiente urbano natural . El proyecto está recopilado y maquetado en forma de un hipotético número de la revista de origen barcelonés METAL.

La fotografía analógica toma un papel principal en el proyecto, usándola de base e inspiración para este; teniendo en cuenta las características del carrete elegido, el Kodak GOLD 200, como base para realizar el proyecto. Un carrete cálido y suave que evoca sentimientos de nostalgia.

Por otro lado, está el Drag de naturaleza extravagante y rompedora, completamente opuesto al sentimiento de la fotografía analógica. La idea de este proyecto es juntar ambas características en un contexto editorial, desafiando los estándares del plano actual. añadiendo más al significado de una fotografía más natural con la ausencia de iluminación de estudio y toda la postproducción que viene con la fotografía digital.
