La rotulación tradicional a pincel: caída y resurrección de un oficio

[ES] El presente trabajo de fin de máster tiene por objeto el estudio, análisis de la rotulación tradicional, esto es, el oficio de pintar letreros comerciales a pincel. Asumiendo que la literatura al respecto es más que limitada (especialmente en el contexto español) trataremos de definir un marco conceptual e histórico del oficio de rotulista con enfoque particular en sus últimos años de vigencia en la ciudad de Valencia, y dedicaremos un espacio al surgimiento de las nuevas escuelas durante el s.XXI en nuestro país. A continuación expondremos las características técnicas del oficio, con sus principales procesos y herramientas, y finalizaremos con dos propuestas prácticas que relacionan desde diferentes ámbitos la recuperación del oficio con la reivindicación de su historia y su vigencia actual.

[EN] The aim of this master's thesis is to study and analyse traditional sign painting, that is, the trade of painting commercial signs with a brush. Assuming that the literature on the subject is more than limited (especially in the Spanish context), we will try to define a conceptual and historical framework of the sign painter's trade with a particular focus on its last years of existence in the city of Valencia, and we will dedicate a space to the emergence of the new schools during the 21st century in our country. We will then explain the technical characteristics of the trade, with its main processes and tools, and we¿ll end with two practical proposals that relate from different areas the recovery of the craft with the vindication of its history and its current validity.
