[EN] Social and economical pressures on the Health Sector are forcing it to become more sustainable. Patients demand better health services while national agencies need to contain costs. These requirements only can be achieved through a cultural change that enables radical innovations. Diagnostic technologies can be made affordable, therefore enabling early detection and diagnosis of diseases and other medical conditions. The new challenges faced by the NHS and the medical equipment manufacturers require more than a technological change. They can be addressed with PSS, a business paradigm based on selling functionality. This work detects new design requirements that appear when putting together products and services. As a result, this combination generates synergies that
become competitive advantages. This work utilises the £1000 scanner to demonstrate that there is an opportunity for affordable scanning technology for primary care. It develops four service packages using the key elements of the PSS theory and provides two different
contracts: availability and pay-per-scan. This paper discusses the implications of the business models around which the packages have been developed. Thus, these sets of offerings have been evaluated and their costs estimated to ensure the feasibility and accuracy of the work.
