[EN] This final year project studies the feasibility of introducing a cogeneration or CHP plant
in a food industry. The cogeneration is a technology that let the combined production of
hot and electricity with high efficiency.
Before studying the cogeneration, the first step has been the description of the company
and its energy demands. Industrias Videca S.A. produces a large variety of tinned fruit
and its process and activities require the use of both electricity and heat. The energy
demand characterization produced during a year the following energy results: 2,854,383
kWh of electric energy and 5,443,562.88 kWh of thermal energy.
Secondly it has been identified the suitable generation technology which was internal
combustion engine, Diesel engine. The next step is a technique evaluation of the
different alternatives that were generated, six alternatives were created according to the
fuel used and the operation mode. The type of fuels available because of the company
location is gasoil and fuel-oil and the operation modes considered are: follow the
electrical demand, follow heat demand and always working at full load. The six
alternatives are technically feasible.
To conclude, it has made an economic study of the cogeneration¿s system. According to
this study and all the assumptions taken into account only two alternatives are viable.
Both of them are using a diesel engine with fuel-oil, and there are two feasible operation
modes, follow the heat demand and always at full load.
