Non-linear analysis of a shallow steel arch subjected to thermal loading and to external loading

[EN] The aim of this thesis is to produce a numerical and analytical models that explain the behaviour of a shallow steel arch under both thermal and external loading. In this thesis, we have tried to explain a nonlinear analysis of a shallow steel arch subjected to thermal loading and to external loading. The behaviour of steel members at elevated temperatures is quite complex; later we will explain how it affects the behaviour of the steel. The analysis that we present in this thesis is just elastic range of material; no plastic study is presented. We are only interested in the behaviour is up to the yielding temperature. Therefore, we ignore yielding effects that result at higher temperatures. We have based our analytical study on the principle of virtual work, which allows for dealing with equilibrium differential equations.
