dc.description.abstract | “Geographical information systems” (GIS) provide an amount of components to manipulate, analyze and visualize geographically referenced information. The spatial information as well as the technology that manage such information is important to answer goals in the past studies. This project work will concentrate to bring up the principles of GIS that will help to build a software architecture within such domain, the principles of software development process and how to follow a new distribution model approach. The software development is nowadays an important technology to develop for GIS companies. Companies aims are to build up a range of software services, but always to ensure the best system properties (technical and business requirements) for both clients and their own team necessities. To attain this, it is important to find out a good software development model. Besides, the software distribution model has commonly been following a license approach. In that sense, a new approach “Software as a Service” (Saas) has risen to accomplish new advantages for the users and the company.
