Estudio conservativo del Mural Buigues-Ríos 1978

Abstract

[EN] In this dissertation we have studied a mural painting realised with a vinyl technique on cloth adhered to the wall, from its historical-artistic, creative, material and preservative context, in order to understand the work in all its aspects and get to value correctly if exists a real need of intervention. Once this is done, we have proceeded to create a conservation proposal, that has been adjusted to the meaning, situation and the current context of the painting. To that, we have designed a conservation-restoration plan in accordance with the painting studied, that will be a reference to have into consideration in the future, in case of making that intervention. We have come to the conclusion that the restoration of the work is not necessary, in spite of the various patologies typical of this technique, since the esthetical message is legible and, therefore, we have determined the no intervention of the work. Given that contemporary art is still a great unknown, we cannot predict exactly the reaction of the painting materials interacting with the products used in the restoration.

In addition, a Preventive Conservation Plan has been proposed, in which has been included a monitoring of the mural painting in its evolution along time, that is, the periodical checking of its state of conservation, in order to act in case of need, in a future.

[ES] En el presente Trabajo Fin de Máster se ha estudiado una pintura mural, realizada con técnica vinílica sobre tela adherida al muro, desde su contexto histórico-artístico, creativo, material y conservativo, para comprender la obra en todas sus vertientes y valorar correctamente si existe una necesidad real de intervención. Una vez hecho esto, se ha procedido a crear una propuesta de conservación, la cual se ha adecuado al significado, situación y contexto actual del mural. Para ello, se ha diseñado un plan de conservación-restauración acorde con la pintura que se constituirá como una referencia a tener en cuenta en un futuro, en el caso de llevarse a cabo dicha intervención. Se ha llegado a la conclusión de que no es necesaria dicha restauración, a pesar de presentar diversas patologías propias de la técnica, puesto que el mensaje estético es legible y, por tanto, se ha determinado la no intervención de la obra. Debido a que el arte contemporáneo es aún un gran desconocido, no podemos predecir con certeza la reacción que tendrán los materiales de la obra al interactuar con los productos de restauración. Además, se ha propuesto un plan de conservación preventiva en el que se ha incluido un seguimiento de la obra en su evolución a lo largo del tiempo. Es decir, la comprobación de su estado de conservación periódicamente, para poder actuar, en caso de ser necesario, en un futuro.
