dc.description.abstract [EN] In this master's thesis the role of the multi-terminal high voltage direct current (HVDC) interconnection as an application to provide extended exibility to the power systems is evaluated. In that sense, a method is developed for placing a HVDC grid paired with a alternating current (AC) network and determining their joint operation. Di erent options are consider as decision factors for this task: the economical perspective regarding the operational cost of the generation, the ful llment of the exibility requirements in the system, and a balance of both, including the possibility to control their relative importance in the calculations. The method is applied in various case studies, using two di erent networks. The algorithm results show an acceptable performance, specially in the larger test case, although the computational processing time is signi - cantly increased. es_ES
