dc.description.abstract | The simulation in computers of the evolution of pressure and temperature inside a cavity when acoustic energy is injected results in a very stiff and high time consuming application. The split-step method used for the integration of the spatial part of the physical model is based on intensive computation of two-dimensional FFTs. This operation is currently very optimized but its use through a Matlab implementation can not completely exploit this optimization. In addition, there exist other operations involved in the integration of the model well suited to be run efficiently on hardware accelerators like GPUs. Thus, we implemented CPU and GPU versions of the application which are much faster than the Matlab version. Moreover, in order to preserve the ease of use we kept the Matlab interface by using mex files. © 2011 Springer-Verlag. | es_ES |
