Análisis de los estudios TIC: acceso, rendimiento y prospectiva

Abstract

[EN] Degree studies were implemented in pilot form in the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) in 2009 in two degrees, and in 2010 in the rest of the degrees. Therefore, we have recently attended the graduation of the first promotions of the degree within the UPV degrees; This is why we believe that it is time to carry out a preliminary analysis of the results obtained by these degrees in the Area of technology, information and communication technology (ICT), since we begin to have relevant information to obtain results; of course, it will take to have a broader universe of time so that these results are more reliable and decisive. This end of this project, accordingly, will seek to analyze the implementation the new Bachelor's degrees within the ICT area, from the point of view of the access and performance of new students enrolled in the first courses of these degrees. This analysis, based on statistical data, provided by the Universitat Politècnica de València and collected from different sources, both of the National Institute of statistics (INE) and the Ministry of education, culture and sport of Spain, is not intended to serve as a reference, but yes it can be a tool for governing bodies, which helps when it comes to decision-making regarding the degrees offered in our University, or at least to provide the right tool for this. To this end, we have begun conducting a brief study on the form of access to the University and the variables involved in this process, key to the further analysis, as well as a classification of qualifications according to the demand from students who will access it and offer places that puts at your disposal the University. Later we will look at the yields obtained in the first course for new students enrolled, trying to establish the link between the variables of average rate of access and academic performance. Finally, we propose the use of a new tool (the Mahalanobis distance) to carry out the analysis of the degrees, which takes into account the correlation between performance and the average rate of admission.

[ES] Los Estudios de Grado, se implantaron de forma piloto en la Universitat Politécnica de Valencia (UPV) en el año 2009 en dos titulaciones, y en 2010 en el resto de las titulaciones. Por lo tanto, hemos asistido recientemente a la graduación de las primeras promociones de las titulaciones de Grado dentro de la UPV; es por ello que consideramos que ha llegado el momento de efectuar un análisis preliminar, de los resultados obtenidos por estas titulaciones dentro del Área de Tecnología, Información y Comunicación (TIC), ya que comenzamos a tener información relevante para obtener resultados; por supuesto, habrá que esperar a disponer de un universo temporal más amplio para que estos resultados sean más fiables y decisivos. Este Proyecto de Fin de Carrera, en consecuencia, tratará de analizar la puesta en marcha de las nuevas titulaciones de Grado dentro del área TIC, desde el punto de vista del Acceso y del Rendimiento de los alumnos nuevos matriculados en los primeros cursos de estas titulaciones. Este análisis, fundamentado en datos estadísticos, proporcionados por la Universitat Politècnica de Valencia y recabados de distintas fuentes tanto del Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE) como del Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte de España, no pretende servir de referente, pero sí puede constituir una herramienta para los órganos rectores, que ayude a la hora de la toma de decisiones con respecto a las titulaciones impartidas en nuestra Universidad, o al menos a proporcionar la herramienta adecuada para ello. Para ello, hemos comenzado realizando un breve estudio sobre la forma de acceso a la Universidad y las variables que intervienen en este proceso, claves para el análisis posterior, así como una clasificación de las titulaciones en función de la Demanda por parte del alumnado que va a acceder a ella y de la Oferta de plazas que pone a su disposición la Universidad. Posteriormente analizaremos el Rendimiento obtenido en el primer curso por los alumnos nuevos matriculados, intentando establecer el vínculo entre las variables de Nota Media de Acceso y Rendimiento académico. Por último, proponemos la utilización de una nueva herramienta (la Distancia de Mahalanobis) para efectuar el análisis de las titulaciones, que tiene en cuenta la correlación existente entre el Rendimiento y la Nota Media de Admisión.
