There is an increasing demand on the use of more renowable sources of energy. The approach of this study is based on a series of tests on different biodiesel blends in order to quantify the effect on emissions of the different blends when compared with pure diesel, analysing in detail emissions of nitric oxides and particulate matter. The biodiesel blends are produced from palm oil and were tested in different blend volumes. Pentanol was also tested in order to anaylse the benefits of biodiesel blends with oxygenated alcohols in terms of efficiency and emisssions.[-]
