dc.description.abstract | Prometheus is a preliminary design optimization tool for the Combustion Sub-System. The project aims to develop an efficient and optimised combustor which uses the existing software tools and best practice within the Rolls-Royce combustor design team. It has been developed in collaboration with Rolls-Royce and the UTC for Computational Engineering at the University of Southampton. A preliminary stress analysis component has been developed for the combustor module, in order to check it capability to withstand under extreme conditions. The tool is coded in C++ programming language and consist of five scripts that are used to ensure the combustor mechanical integrity. Additionally an interface between Prometheus and the stress module has been necessary to generate automatically all the input data needed to perform the calculations. Prometheus has been designed to run through different aero engines – mainly ENTAPS, RB3036 and XWB, and our last objective was to extend its capability for the new BR700NG engine, making Prometheus the standard optimization tool within Combustion Department. | es_ES |
