dc.description.abstract One of the biggest challenges in the field of process engineering materials is to integrate the technical, economic and environmental considerations in a reasoned and efficient process. Until now these considerations are not clearly defined, so the decisions are, in most cases, based on technology and economy only. High pressure die casting present requirements and future perspectives for industry, particularly in the automotive industry, it is imposed to research about light materials in the development of strong workpieces. Aluminum consumption exceeds the capacity of existing primary metal production. The global aluminum production has increased, therefore creating economically sustainable processes that satisfy the requirements of design and light weight as well as the requirements for recycling. Die casting (High pressure) is a very suitable method to produce light weight automotive parts. es_ES
