Cova, furniture for kids

Abstract

The objective of this project consists in developing a furniture for kids. This furniture has to combine the own use of the furniture with the objective that it can be used to play by the children. This project was thought to be shown in the Stockholm Furniture Fair that took place in February of 2015. It was thought to be a collaboration with the Peltola School, the carpenter school of Turku, to develop the prototype. Because of that the furniture should be made of wood. The product, as a furniture should be an object of design with a functional role. In addition, it has to be a product which can be used by kids to play. Playing is associated with cognitive development and socialization. Moreover, play promotes fl exibility of mind, including adaptive practices such as discovering multiple ways to achieve a desired result, or creative ways to improve or reorganize a given situation.
