dc.description.abstract | Message Oriented Middleware (MOM) refers to the software infrastructure that support ubiquitous information delivery among software and hardware systems. Two of the most relevant protocols in this context are AMQP and MQTT. Lately, they have been extensively used to exchange messages conserving network bandwidth, device memory and batteries. These protocols provide an abstraction of the communication programming details of the different participating system entities, alleviating their coordination and collaboration. However, these protocols have not been thoroughly tested focused on studying the impact of node mobility. In this paper we present an experimental evaluation of both protocols quantifying the effect of the node mobility in terms of message loss, latency, jitter and saturation boundary values. Based on the results obtained, we provide criteria of applicability of these protocols. This evaluation is of interest for the upcoming applications that can be supported by MOM, and in especial for communication in Machine to Machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT). | es_ES |
