dc.description.abstract | [EN] The so called Mosen Sorell Palace was the residence of one of the wealthiest families of Valencia halfway between the 15th and 16th centuries. For various ups and downs it remained virtually unchanged until an arson attack destroyed it in March 1878, being demolished shortly after. Little would be known of this lost building if it were not for the interest aroused among several nineteenth artists, who perpetuated graphically the details of its unique architecture. We refer specifically to Vicente Poleró, Emilio Sala, Salustiano Asenjo and the anonymous author of several unpublished pictures preserved in the Lázaro Galdiano Museum, Madrid. They will be the protagonists of this story, along with other intellectuals who defended the importance of the palace into a pioneering era for Spanish medieval heritage protection. | es_ES |
