HÍBRIDOS FOTOGRÁFICOS EN EL ARTE CONTEMPORÁNEO. Un estudio para su conservación

Abstract

Since the birth of photography, at the end of the nineteenth century, there has been much progress in the field of this 'new' technique. It is a delicate means which in a subtle way managed to become an additional artistic category of fine arts. Its ability to be hybrid and fuse with different elements gave photography the opportunity to create new artistic genres through the hand of great artists. It has been, and continues to be, used as a vehicle and material for all those who use it to provide evidence of their existence, especially in conceptual art, where artworks can be read and interpreted in many different ways.

The purpose of this research is to identify the different uses of photography in contemporary art throughout the analysis of the hybrid forms that have emerged. The study is a historical overview which begins from the early experimentations, then focuses on the period of highest creativity - the eighties - and ultimately on the latest trends. This contribution to the study of photography's hybrid techniques helps to determine the different materials used over the years and the latest trends employed by artists, as well as the challenges faced by conservator-restorers. The results were achieved by evaluating and analysing the opinions of the sector experts, that is to say artists, conservator-restorers and art curators.

Desde que naciese la fotografía, a finales del s. XIX, muchos son los avances que han surgido en torno a esta 'nueva' técnica. Se trata en definitiva de un medio delicado que ha conseguido con la misma sutileza, posicionarse como una más de las categorías artísticas de las bellas artes. Su capacidad de hibridación y fusión le han dado la posibilidad de crear nuevos géneros artísticos de la mano de grandes artistas. Ha sido, y todavía lo sigue siendo, utilizada como vehículo y materia por todos aquellos que la adoptan para testimoniar su existencia, sobre todo en el arte conceptual, donde las obras pasan a tener múltiples lecturas e interpretaciones.

En este trabajo de investigación, se ha realizado una revisión de los diferentes usos de la fotografía en el arte contemporáneo, analizando las diferentes formas híbridas que han surgido, todo ello realizando una revisión histórica desde sus primeras experimentaciones, pasando por el periodo de mayor creatividad, durante los años '80, y llegando a las últimas tendencias. Con esta aportación al estudio de los híbridos fotográficos se ha contribuido a determinar los diferentes materiales que se han venido utilizando y las últimas tendencias que están empleando los artistas, así como las problemáticas a las cuales se enfrentan los conservadores-restauradores y todo ello valorando y analizando, las diferentes opiniones de los especialistas del sector, es decir, los propios artistas, los conservadores-restauradores y los gestores del arte.

Des que va nàixer la fotografia, a finals del s. XIX, molts són els avanços que han sorgit entorn da aquesta 'nova' tècnica. Es tracta en definitiva d'un mitjà delicat que ha aconseguit amb la mateixa subtilesa, posicionar-se com una més de les categories artístiques de les belles arts. La seua capacitat de hibridació i fusió li han donat la possibilitat de crear nous gèneres artístics de la mà de grans artistes. Ha sigut, i encara ho continua sent, utilitzada com a vehicle i matèria per tots aquells que l'adopten per a testimoniar la seua existència, sobretot en l'art conceptual, on les obres passen a tindre múltiples lectures i interpretacions.

En este treball d'investigació, s'ha realitzat una revisió dels diferents usos de la fotografia en l'art contemporani, analitzant les diferents formes híbrides que han sorgit, tot això realitzant una revisió històrica des de les seues primeres experimentacions, passant pel període de major creativitat, durant els anys '80, i arribant a les últimes tendències. Amb esta aportació a l'estudi dels híbrids fotogràfics s'ha contribuït a determinar els diversos materials que s'han utilitzat i les últimes tendències que estan utilitzant els artistes, així com les problemàtiques a les quals s'enfronten els conservadors-restauradors i sobre tot valorant i analitzant, les diferents opinions dels especialistes del sector, és a dir, els propis artistes, els conservadors-restauradors i els gestors de l'art.
