Description: Starting from the daring and suggestive comparison of the formal structures underlying Villa Foscari, designed by Palladio, and Villa Stein, designed by Le Corbusier, that was raised by Colin Rowe, these two masterpieces are revisited to explore other aspects providing further insight into both the abstract and perceptive sides of these two architects, and contributing to further reveal the affinities and wealth of nuances that both works offer. We first embark on the carefully worked out promenade architecturale arranged by each architect in his work, to analyse the interplay of routes, visual vectors, and flows of light emphasizing or blurring the outlines of shapes. Other aspects concerning both works are also dealt with, such as perception of corporeality, spatial form, and finally, programme and use as an expression of specific ways of life and world visions.
