El alzhéimer en fotos. Etapa final de una enfermedad

Abstract

Picture report has as objective to relate a story and also has, among others, a social duty, about sensitization. Alzheimer illness and senile dementia are diseases that destroy everything that a person is, they finish with his essence and with what he used to be. Nowadays, this kind of sickness are so common, they exist in a lot of houses and homes, and they are heartbreaking for that person who suffers it and for people which he shares his life with. This work tries to expose and tell a real, close, story that exist in the workday of many families; it tries to relate the routine and life of an ill, senile and reliant person and how it affects people who join and take care of him. My project attempt to reflect, through photography, this reality, entirely; the cruelest and bitterest moments of this mental disorder, but, also these moments in which cheerful, thankfulness and happiness are seen in a gaze. I will take photos of the patient, my granddad, but of the family too, my family, with the objective of reflecting how this type of sickness doesn¿t affect only to people who suffers it, equally it prejudice at a whole family.

El fotorreportaje tiene como objetivo narrar una historia y cuenta con una función social de concienciación. El alzhéimer y la demencia senil son enfermedades que destruyen todo lo que una persona es, acaban con su esencia y con lo que un día fue. Este tipo de dolencias son muy comunes en la actualidad, existen en muchas casas y hogares, y resultan desgarradoras para aquel que las sufre y también para quienes comparten su vida con él. Este trabajo trata de exponer y contar una historia real, cercana, que existe en el día a día de muchas familias; refleja la rutina y la vida de un enfermo, senil y dependiente, y cómo afecta en la de quienes le acompañan y le cuidan. Mi proyecto trata de reflejar a través de la fotografía esta realidad, al completo: los momentos más crueles y amargos de esta enfermedad pero, también aquellos en que la alegría, el agradecimiento y la felicidad se reflejan en una mirada. Son tomadas imágenes del enfermo, mi abuelo, pero también de la familia, mi familia, con la intención de reflejar como esta clase de enfermedades no afecta solo a quienes las padecen sino que influyen a una familia completa.
