THE PEOPLE YOU DON'T SEE. Pintura y fotografía: creación pictórica a partir de hojas de contacto

Abstract

Este trabajo, titulado The people you don¿t see. Pintura y fotografía: Creación pictórica a partir de hojas contacto, recoge la realización de una serie de doce pinturas (The people you don¿t see) a partir de las imágenes de hojas de contacto elaboradas por los fotógrafos Walker Evans, Robert Frank y Garry Winogrand, y en torno a ésta, otras dos series realizadas con otras técnicas como son la serigrafía y la cianotipia. El trabajo es fruto de la convivencia entre la fotografía y la pintura en mi proceso creativo, y más en concreto sobre las posibilidades que las hojas de contacto ofrecen al mismo. Las hojas de contacto, en principio herramientas destinadas a la creación fotográfica, sirven en este proyecto para reflejar en la obra pictórica no solo el instante decisivo captado por la imagen, sino también el transcurso del tiempo, y así conseguir un discurso narrativo abierto propuesto directamente por la presencia de la pintura. El proyecto se acompaña de un breve marco de reflexión en torno a la relación pintura y fotografía, de los referentes que han influido en la obra, así como de una explicación de las fases de su proceso de creación.

This dissertation named The people you don¿t see. Painting and Photography: Pictorial creation started from contact sheets, includes the production of a series of twelve paintings (The people you don¿t see) from the images of the contact sheets elaborated by the photographers Walker Evans, Robert Frank and Garry Winogrand, and around this, other two series made with other techniques such as serigraphy and cyanotype. This work is the result of the coexistence between photography and painting in my creative process, and more specifically about the possibilities that contact sheets can offer to the pictorial creation process. Contact sheets, at first tools designated to the photography creation, serve in this proyect to reflect in the pictorial work not only the decisive moment captured by the images, but the time course too, and in this way achieve one open narrative speech proposed directly by the presence of the painting. The project is accompanied by a brief frame of reflection on the relationship between painting and photography, the references that have influenced the work, as well as an explanation of the phases of its creation process.
