Las pinturas murales en la ermita de N.ª S.ª de Guaditoca en Guadalcanal (Sevilla)

[EN] The mural paintings of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Guaditoca in Guadalcanal constitute a paradigmatic example of Andalusian mural painting from the end of the 18th century. In the subsequent article, we propose an analysis of the state of conservation of the paintings, establishing a detailed diagnosis, as well as the consequent intervention criteria and methodology. A work that also raises the necessary reading of the iconographic program, hitherto unpublished, from its architectural and historical recognition in a knowledge of the cultural asset towards its characterization and patrimonial protection. Its necessary enhancement and consequent protection are based on an urgent intervention of a scientific-technical nature.

[EN] The present paper focuses on the historic Can Bagaria factory in Cornellá de Llobregat, Barcelona. From its contextualization and constructive characterization, the culminating moment of construction is exemplified in a time characterized by the industrial boom and technological innovation (19th and 20th centuries). The development of iron and cast iron structures, in combination with traditional brick masonry, helped the gestation of a new type of porticoed, bidirectional and isostatic architectural type, of which Can Bagaria is found to represent one of the most evolved examples, through the analysis of its various structural components and the knowledge of its typological and technological precedents.

[EN] The Municipal Colombarium in the North Cemetery was declared a National Historical Monument in 2014. To date, however, it does not have a plan that enables its conservation and maintenance despite the clear signs of deterioration it presents. An analysis of the constructive configuration of the building based on surveys, test results and a theoretical modeling of its structure is proposed in this article. The pathologies detected are classified in three groups, according to the degree of affectation of the building and the level of commitment they exert on the structure. Finally, a diagnosis is established. The building shows signs of damage, especially its horizontal structural components. Under current conditions, these effects do not compromise its stability, however, given the progressive nature of the pathological processes detected linked to the loss of alkalinity and the high permeability of the concrete, it is foreseeable that its performance may be compromised in the short term.

[EN] The Escuelas Pías Church of Valencia stands out for the exceptional features and dimensions of its dome with an internal diameter of 24.5m. Today, it faces conservation problems, which make it necessary to determine the causes of the pathology and proposes corrective measures. Following analysis of documents and a historical-architectural study, an exhaustive data collection was completed, allowing the geometric and condition of the existing constructed fabric to be recorded. Based on the initial evaluation, specific studies are proposed, in this case the focus is on structural behaviour, the definition of the techniques and the materials of the classicist architecture of the Escuelas Pías Church. As a result a proposal is made for the intervention phases necessary for the adequate conservation and integral restoration, together with a research plan to advance the knowledge of its architecture.

Edificios de piedra australianos: naturaleza, degradación y conservación
(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2022-12-23) Trovò, Francesco
[EN] The contribution deals with stone buildings in Melbourne and Sydney built from the second half of the 19th century onwards. The results of a census of around 140 buildings are reported, analysed with respect to the type of stone used (sandstone, limestone, bluestone) and the degradation phenomena observed, in order to create the basis for establishing correlations between character and pathology. Taking into account the principles of the Burra Charter, which sets out cultural and operational criteria to be followed in restoration work, a number of significant sites were described, highlighting their operational methods and main conservation issues.
