The econometric models are specified taking into account as a dependent variable the number of fires and affected area, while these depend on a number of explanatory variables, including climatic and socio-economic characteristics. Based on the obtained results, we conclude that public policies should be oriented to re-structuring the agro-livestock sector, considering the evolution of the population pyramid, and new land uses. Such policies can help to reduce wildfires in Galicia.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Trees appraisal in Spain. The multiplier analysis is applied to Social Accounting Matrix for Spain in 2006 elaborated by Ordóñez (2011). Energy intensities are estimated in different scenarios when labor income, capital income, private consumption and investment accounts are treated as endogenous. The results show that there are significant variations among sectors and that they improve when accounts are treated as endogenous. The energy sectors are those that have the highest energy intensity, along with others such as Building materials, Chemical industry and Transport and communications.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Evolution of the agricultural productivity in the European regions: A convergence analysis with dynamic data panel methods(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2012-05-08) Cuerva, Mª Carmen[EN] This paper analyses whether there is a convergence process in terms of labour productivity in the European Union (EU) agricultural sector, for a set of 125 regions in the period 1986-2004. For this purpose, we propose a dynamic panel data model. Results confirm that agricultures move very close to their stationary states which differ among themselves, in such a way that productivity differences will persist in the long term. These results are confirmed by a distribution dynamics analysis. Regional disparities across the European agricultures are large and persistent. Water is valued using a non-linear mathematical programming model that allocates water and irrigated land among crop activities in each of the 64 Water Demand Units of the basin. The marginal and average value of water for the basin are 0,52 €/m3 and 0,81 €/m3 respectively, with marked differences between areas. Irrigation in the Segura basin generates an average annual farm net margin of 879 million €/year, whereas the average annual value of resources transferred from the Tajo basin has been conservatively estimated at 169 million Euros.
