On the other, the result of this same theoretical research work that finally concludes in a visual experiment, an artistic work. Is poetry and art a resource for theoretical research, and vice versa, is theory and philosophy a resource for artistic experimentation.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Arte colectivo y emergencia climática: la práctica artística frente a la crisis medioambiental(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2019-12-30) Espinel Velasco, José Carlos[EN] Current climate emergency requires the attention of artists to highlight the impact of human development on the environment, mainly the in marine ecosystems. Pollution, overfishing, eutrophication or melting of the polar ice caps with rising sea levels as the most obvious result, are just some of the threats faced by the oceans. However, none of them is as lethal as the silent and invisible enemy that has unleashed the ocean acidification process: carbon dioxide (CO2). Works developed by the collective The Algae Society and invited artists underline the importance of the oceans and the organisms that inhabit it for the development and survival of life on earth, as well as the consequences that our lifestyle has on them.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Impetus Tempestatis: Pictura. [EN] The aim of this article is to verify the intense relationship that, from its beginnings, the painter Eduardo Arroyo maintains with the cinematographic medium and especially with the adaptation of the postulates of black cinema to the pictorial practice. At first, and given its great visual appeal, within the pictorial approaches to black cinema, fit purely iconographic loans, but in the case of Eduardo Arroyo, we soon discovered that his interest in this genre goes further, and, has a sense much deeper and rooted in the foundations and structural principles of the cinematographic medium. In this way, a large part of its production is characterized by the use of outside-field as well as high-contrast aesthetics. These resources of the black cinema, become the pictorial universe of Arroyo, the perfect metaphor to describe the Franco regime, and modes of repression.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , UNTITLED. La creatividad inacabada(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2019-12-30) Llopis, Martí; Covaleda Vicente, Irene; Zuriaga Senent, Vicent[EN] This project was forged with the idea of experimenting, from a collective exhibition, where the creativity of the curator begins and ends. As a starting point it presented us with a contradiction, on the one hand, leaving the artist free and on the other, marking them with specific premises. Logically behind all this there was a conceptual story marked and demanded by the curator that could influence the creativity of the artists, so a series of questions could be asked: Is this creativity impaired or adulterated by the commissioner s work? Can this modify or multiply the meaning or perhaps dilute it? Who gives the last brushstroke to the work, the artist, the curator or maybe a third element, the viewer?Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Imaginar la radio: Ramón Gómez de la Serna y el medio radiofónico(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2019-12-30) Ariza Pomareta, Javier[EN] This paper analyses the capacity of imagination poured by Ramón Gómez de la Serna within the context of the radio media during its establishment in the first decades of the 20th century. Methodologically, it has focused on the study of that documentary legacy expressed through his literature, words and drawings as resources for the utopian projection of a new technical medium combined with awesome creative proposals. It offers the fundamental keys of a singular relationship, concluding with the vindication of his figure as vanguard and pioneer of new forms of the radio context interpretation. [EN] When the idea and the form remained close in time, the nostalgia towards the artistic activity of the workshop combined the material elements of the work and, were presented integrated in the possible means offered by the system that makes the created visible. The aeropostal paintings of the artist Eugenio Dittborn, are the example from which one starts to perform an analysis on space, painting and images today, and a reflection on the impact they pose as well as the meaning of their production is proposed and from the moment when some of the most influential works were created. [EN] The One Hundred Advices Lithographic Book, published in 1905, is a collection of translations of hundreds of moral narratives of Mirzā Ali Asğar Jan Piš Jedmat, written in Persia during the monarchy of Moẓaffar-Al-Din Šāh Qāŷār . The book contains nineteen illustrations and does not refer to the name of its illustrator and its compiler. The purpose of this article is to review and study some of illustrations lithography based on the principles and rules of the great tradition of Persian painting, such as advise in the form, the avoid of vacuum, the elimination of perspectives, the chiaroscuro and the representation of the dimension, because there is no exhaustive research on the illustrations in this book. This research is developed from the following questions: Is the form related to the topic and content? What are the causes of the lack of color?, What are the reasons for the impoverishment of Islamic art in lithography? At the end of this investigation it is concluded that the illustration has an immediate link with the literature and that the technical limitations of this form of printing did not allow the use of color and therefore transmit the impact of the pictorial language of the West as a result of the close links with Europe, with the result of the impoverishment of Islamic art in lithographic illustrations. In addition, it is worth mentioning that this book contains valuable illustrations with lithographic technique, therefore it can be considered as a suitable platform for historical studies of Qāŷār art. Studying the illustrations is done based on Islamic art aesthetics approach in the article because it has a direct relationship with Persian painting and the given aesthetics. Descriptive-analytical method is used for the research and library resources are used for data gathering.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , El sonido para dibujar(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2019-12-30) Koleff Osorio, Sergio[EN] The sound and the drawing can be related from the visual analogy established in the sound lines or structures , with the lines and the graphic structure. The sound of certain music by J. S. Bach is the reason for the executions of the drawing, starting mainly without looking at the support. The materials are guided by the rhythm of the internalized experience of Bach s music, which becomes the rhythmic and empathic guide with the emotional tone of graphic actions. The personal experience of sound and drawing to determine the shared experience of exercises is analyzed from an academic context. The sound allows to deepen the interiorization of materials, contributing to the ability of the executions of the drawing in the ease of the raised hand, to handle the pressure in stroke or continuity of a line.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Aproximaciones al mártir contemporáneo. La ascesis de David Nebreda(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2019-12-30) González-Carpio Alcaraz, David[EN] Corporal torture as a reproving procedure has been intrinsic to the action of men in any culture through history, from the stoicism of the hero-martyrs of classical Greek mythology, to martyrdom and the concept of death in the Middle Ages, practically circumscribed in full to Christianity. In modernity, the concept of a martyr goes beyond the religious sphere to acquire a secular and existential sense. Its sacred image of previous centuries is diluted towards a path of redemption of the afflicted own body generating a need for self-mortification. In this work, we will revise the concept of martyr throughout art history in brief. In this context, we will analyse certain artistic practices from the 60s to the present day, connecting intimately with martyr s iconographic codes established by the Church in the Middle Ages, resulting the basis for the representation in the iconography of the martyr in Baroque painting. [EN] The trompe l'oeil is a painting which tries to deceive the spectator by pretending to be part of reality. This type of work informed the writing of the french author Georges Perec, who found in fiction, plastic illusion and trap, the literary motifs to retrace his memory. In this article I will present the relationship between trompe-l oeil painting and Georges Perec s autobiographical narrative in the book W or the Memory of Childhood (1975), where the author exposes the memory as an entangled. [EN] The present work will focus on the first volume of the Josefina Rodríguez Aldecoa trilogy, History of a teacher (1990), the story revolves around Gabriela s life and in this first part the experience lived during the Second Republic, the War Spanish Civil, the dictatorship of Francisco Franco in the Iberian Peninsula. In this investigation I will investigate especially in the development of Gabriela s I as the main protagonist in her history, where she exposes her past and at the same time her traumas throughout her memories. Finally, it is important to underline that there are historical and family elements that they themselves choose to share, which are exposed and analyzed in this work. [EN] The relationship between cinema and painting has been always very close, especially during the Early Cinema. Although this relationship provided the cinema a visual language, this heritage soon started to put limits to all the possibilities of this new art, unable to break up with the frontality of the inherited pictorial frame. The liberation process was slow and difficult and although the first attempts of breaking this frontality appeared early, the spectator s acceptance of these new modes of representation didn t appear easily. Filmmakers were forced to find ways to explore the possibilities of cinema avoiding the audience s rejection. The close-ups introduced for the first time during this first cinema s period were obligated to find excuses that could justify this unusual camera approach. This way, the early close-ups were born almost exclusively in scenes were the characters were using an optic device that could justify the break of the usual long shot. In this article, We will study the first uses of the close-up in Early Cinema and how they helped to build a cinematographic space with a language of his own.Item type: Artículo , Access status: Abierto , Estilo libre.
