From digital drawing to dissemination of the collected data, reflections on the virtual creative process
(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2021-06-30) Ricci, Ylenia; Pasquali, Andrea; Giraudeau, Stéphane
[EN] The research presented here focuses on the understanding of the act of drawing not only as a means of restitution of the architectural survey but also considering the modernization of the representation techniques. This must be considered as a first step for the creation of virtual environments capable of offering advanced methodologies for the dissemination of the collected data. Expanding the techniques that can be referred to drawing will not only be a necessary process, and one that is already underway, but it will have to strengthen the intrinsic potential of representation. The aim is to communicate and record information with common codes facilitating reading and dissemination. Central to this is the use of drawing as a means of connection between different figures researching a topic. Drawing must be interpreted as the restitution and result of processes of elaboration and codification of the information collected with the survey, that leads us to the modeling and realization of exhaustive elaborations, containing the greatest amount of information useful for the dissemination of the existing architectural heritage and beyond. Its digital evolution, an opportunity to increase the potential and strength of the scientific dissemination of knowledge.

Survey of the taller dels Canets, XIX-XX centuries: the old San Antonio wooden carriage factory, Beneixama (Alicante, Spain)
(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2021-06-30) Ortín Molina, Sergio; Ortín Molina, Miguel Ángel
[EN] The centennial workshop ‘San Antonio’ hosted the industrial rise of a family business dedicated to the craft of construction of wooden carriages, now disappeared. A business activity that began in 1860 and almost saw the dawn of the 21st century. The complex has not received appropriate maintenance and its roofs threaten ruin, compromising the survival of the manufacturing building, abandoned since its closure. Almost 2,000 square meters of industrial history languish awaiting an urgent intervention. This publication, therefore, is inserted in a trend of revalue enhancement and recovery of the heritage site. This graphic survey has been carried out with the essential purpose of capturing its current state, in order to serve as a basis for a future and necessary restoration. In the absence of the original plans, prior to 1909, this work constitutes the only existing planimetric document of the building. And it is being shown in this article for the first time.

The drawing as a guide between the study and the intervention. The Castle of Orba (Orba-Murla, Alicante. Spain)
(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2021-06-30) Paredes Vañó, Enric Alfons
[EN] Since the end of 2016, safeguarding and protection actions were taken in the castle known as“El Castellet” (located in the towns of Orba and Murla). It is a medieval fortification of relevant interest and, curiously, quite relegated by the scientific community. The works carried out to date was organized in three phases, starting with research and preliminary analysis. This was followed by the drafting of intervention projects, which in turn articulated the development of the first “in situ” work. The intervention consisted of archaeological actions, emergency consolidation work and minimal enhancement of the complex, which has brought to light an interesting heritage complex. This novelty generated an exceptional material (graphic and documentary), since it defines its initial ruinous state and subsequently details the recovery process towards a period of preliminary knowledge and considerable improvement, which allows it to keep growing towards a worthy heritage future.

Digital technologies applied to the accessible management of museums. The first experiments carried out at the Museum of Oriental Art of Turin
(Universitat Politècnica de València, 2021-06-30) Ronco, Francesca
[EN] The proposed research focuses on the museum context of the city of Turin (Italy), within an ongoing framework agreement between the Politecnico di Torino and the Museum of Oriental Art (MAO). It aims at the construction of a model for the management of the workflow that includes the digital survey, the 3D virtual modelling and the digital fabrication of the tactile models of the artworks and the exhibition spaces. The paper starts with an overview on the methods of conservation and dissemination of cultural and architectural heritage, on the accessibility of museums and on tactile perception and graphics. It presents the first outcomes of the designed workflow with a special focus on the digital fabrication experiments on the vaulted system of the atrium of Palazzo Mazzonis (MAO home). The founding idea is that tactile exploration of artifacts helps the visitor engagement, making the museum experience more educationally incisive and more inclusive, in a “Design for All” perspective.
